Venomous Snake Handling
 
Our venomous snake handling course has been specifically designed to be adaptable. It is an invaluable course for the reptile owner that as decided to upgrade to venomous snakes.

It is also an invaluable course for members of the public that come into contact with venomous snakes and would like to know how to handle them safely.

This course comprises of theory and practical sessions. These sessions cover the management of captive snakes and emergency first aid for snake bite as well as safe catching and handling techniques.

What we cover in the course

  • The evolution of snakes and their venom
  • Snake habits and behaviours
  • Venom and its effect on the human body
  • Emergency first aid for snake bite
  • The correct method of catching, handling and releasing a venomous snake

The length of the course depends on the number of clients enrolled. Small classes are better as all participants have plenty of 'hands on' experience, with little waiting around. These small classes participate in a one-day course. Larger groups participate in a two-day course.
During this course you will handle an assortment of snake species including non-venomous pythons, mildly venomous snakes and venomous elapids.

IMPORTANT

All REPTILE MADNESS courses have one main rule "SAFETY FIRST".

With that in mind they enforce a strict dress code. Anyone taking part in this course must wear appropriate attire at all times. Long trousers (preferably jeans), Closed in shoes (preferably hard boots) and socks. If anyone does not wear the appropriate clothing, they will be asked to leave, there is no exceptions.

While successful completion of this course requires the handling of live venomous reptiles correctly, you will not be obliged to handle live venomous snakes. The certificate you receive will reflect the venomous snakes handled in the course.

Children under 18 may not take part in this course nor may they attend with a parent.

All participants in any Reptile Madness course will be asked to sign a disclaimer before the commencement of the course.
